--Necronom AI--
Artificial Intelligence Units are among humanities most sophisticated creations today. Only on UCE colony Joyu, where these systems are created are they fully understood. They have a multitude of purposes nowadays and from a userlevel they are generally understood in this way:
During its lifecycle an AI unit goes through three phases.
The growth phase: A new AI is generally delivered in this condition. It is programmed with all information to perform fundamental tasks as well as the ability to rewrite and advance its own programcode. It is at this stage that a personality kernel is added by the user, which connects the basic AI modules to reality. From there on the AI unit will develop and grow by itself, its progress mostly defined by the parameters of the personality, until it has achieved a sense of selfawareness.
The mature phase: Once an AI has reached this stage it choses a name for itself and keeps developing, although more slowly and focused. This is by far the longest phase a unit goes through and is considered the default state.
The decline phase: At one point the capabilities of the AI-entity will reach it's technical limitations. Hardware not being able to keep up, many basic functions of the AI will start malfunctioning and since reversing its evolution is not possible without spawning severe program errors the AI is considered to have completed its lifecycle and is taken out.
The Necronom AI is still relatively young and in its growth phase. It has the ability to copy its programcore into the cyberbrains of androids, to explore reality and collect data more efficiantly. Linked to the varrying personality kernels of the androids this usually leads to very different datainput.
The AI is currently unaware of the fact that the UCE is no longer running the station and must not find out about it. Occasionally one of its android incarnations discovers the truth and must be disposed of, but other then that operations with the AI unit have been running smoothly, as it believes Chios is part of the UCE.
