At approximately 1900, I was patrolling on Halo-B when I heard a loud clamor as I passed a ladder to Halo-A. I climbed up and found myself just outside the lab, where a throng of apparently frightened station-goers were hugging the walls of the entry passage. I smelled an awful burning stink just as my helmet's autofilters started to kick in. As I stepped into the entry passage, I recognized Major Rue through the haze of some odd emission. I signaled her via tight-beam subvocal transmission and she apprised me of the situation. Once I managed to compensate my helmet's tracking, which a dense, anoxic, fog-like emission had jammed on visual and thermal wavelengths, I spotted what appeared to be a large carapaced humanoid figure, about four meters tall and three across, standing in close proximity to Omega's mindwarp device. Several Omega scientists were alternately operating machinery or, with Major Rue, were directly engaging the creature with energy weapons. As a number of what appeared to be NSDF mercenaries, BTP agents, and a few well-armed passersby were engaging it close up, I braced myself against the wall and aimed a tight burst from my new DC-15A into what passed for its neck, hoping that would maximize damage while minimizing the risk of blasting a friendly by mistake. As I fired, one of what appeared to be the NSDF personnel simultaneously struck one of its legs with what appeared to be a vibroaxe. The creature howled, and released some manner of hypersonic emission which stunned everyone present. It then launched into a monologue about how we were all going to die soon when the rest of its people came, and fled through the wall. At Major Rue's request, I summoned maintenance and medics to the lab. Casualties were moderate, with no fatalities that I was aware of. Had any of the factions on the scene been absent, I surmise that the creature would probably have inflicted numerous fatalities and caused significant damage to the laboratory, if not the entire station. One of my contacts later assured me that the actual damage was largely superficial, and was apparently caused by careless discharge of weapons from within the anoxic fog-like effect the creature had emitted into the room, rather than by the creature itself. This suggests that the creature's abilities are most strongly anti-biological; however, its stunning ability also affected two full cyborgs and several partial borgs present, and it nearly succeeded in destroying a full-borg Omega borg, though I did not witness what attack it had used on her. I would strongly recommend defensive or distraction tactics until backup can arrive for any future engagements with this or similar creatures. As a final note, I did not hear any motive expressed by the creature for its actions, in spite of its apparent intelligence.
